I’ve had the ability to personally use Etekcity Scroll X1 2400 dpi gaming mouse and it was actually working like a charm. I came across with Etekcity Scroll X1 at office when a collegue bought this mouse for office uses and we’re working in a technical environment where we use 3d Modeling softwares and use the mouse a lot.

That’s why we always prefer mice with good parameters, durability and comfort. Believe me, you wouldn’t like to have trouble with your mouse when it’s the tool that you are using the most to accomplish stuff. But thank god Etekcity Scroll X1 has never let me down and till this day I’m still using it with great joy.

When you unbox Etekcity Scroll X1, the things that you will com across with are the Etekcity Scroll X1 mouse, a set of anti-skid rubber pads, a CD Drive for the mouse software and a user manual. As Etekcity Scroll X1 uses a software to program the mouse and create user profiles, you will need to install the software from the CD which comes with the mouse.

I know that people tend to learn things better visually trough images and videos, which is valid for me as well. That’s why I usually prefer providing video reviews in articles. For you to have a general understanding, I’m presenting you a video review of Etekcity Scroll X1:

Design and Feels

Some of you guys may have seen a similar looking mouse around which is a bit more known than Etekcity Scroll X1. You’re actually right. Etekcity Scroll X1 is, in my opinion, kind of a replica of the famous Razer Deathadder. All the looks fit just right to Razer Deathadder

If you don’t know about Razer Deathadder, click here to check out our review of Razer Deathadder.

Etekcity Scroll X1 has a very aggressive look and it mesmerizes me. It has hard lines and a great characteristic curve.

One of the things that I like the most about Etekcity Scroll is the simple but yet fantastic design of the mouse overall. It’s ergonomics are fitting great to claw grip and fingertip grip users. I’m actually a claw grip user and I have average hands. In my situation this mouse suited perfectly and I was really comfortable in all my tasks. So it’s a great buy especially if you are a user with these types of grip.

You don’t know anything about grip types?? Don’t wory, we’ve thinked about it all before. Read our article to learn everything about choosing a gaming mouse.

Now, surface of the mouse is made from matte finnish and it definetely feels great under your palms. It doesn’t hold sweat or odor. The teflonish matte surface, unlike glossy plastic surfaces, made me feel really comfortable while using this mouse. Glossy plastic surfaces aren’t my favourite type and if you like matte surfaces you will be getting good with this baby in a real short time.

This mouse has 7 buttons which you can program on your will. These are the buttons: Right click, left click, scroll wheel, 2 buttons behind the scroll wheel (usually for DPI switching) and two side buttons with signs of “forward” and “backward”.

I admit that there are mice with button richness like 11 buttons or 18 buttons which are higher grade gaming mice. This mouse is not one of them of course, but it fulfills all your needs for comfortable tasks and everyday purposes and it does this so well.

Etekcity Scroll X1 has a copper braided 5ft (1,5 m) long usb cord which offers stretch resistance and durable use. I like braided cords because of their durability and fine looks. The USB is gold plated for signal strenght.

Let’s get down to technical side of things

The most significant technical feature of Etekcity Scroll X1 is its switches and accuracy. This baby uses Omron micro switches which are one of the best in the switch industry. From my personal experience, I also can assure you that this mouse has provided me one of the best button qualities till now.

Most of the mouse issues that I had with almost every mouse was related to clicks and buttons, especially left click and scroll wheel button. I can’t describe how annoying it can get and especially if you’re using your mouse very frequently to do some serious stuff.

Etekcity Scroll X1 has never let me down with it’s buttons. They were highly responsive and didn’t come up with any issue. Usage of Omron micro switches is a really big plus of course. When you hear Omron you know that at least a decent level of quality is on the way.

Etekcity Scroll x1 2400 dpi gaming mouse

Etekcity is so sure of their masterpiece that they are guaranteeing 5 million clicks of key switch life span. It’s even more than double of Logitech’s G300S key life. In conclusion, buttons and responsiveness work like a charm. They’ve never let me down and they were one of the most remarkable features you can find on this mouse.

Now, let’s talk about the DPI. This bad boy has a DPI range varying from 800 to 2400 DPI. You can switch between three DPI settings: 800/1600/2400 . You can do the switching by the buttons at the back of mouse scroll. You can understand from the signs “+”,”-” that these are meant for DPI shifting.

Of course it doesn’t offer a huge DPI range like 16000 DPI, but 2400 is just about ideal for comfortable gaming purposes. Usually most people define their sweet spot as  1600-2400 DPI, also depending on your screen resolution of course. I myself prefer 2400 DPI if I’m gaming comfortable or dealing with my everyday tasks. You can also lower your DPI for in-game sniping when the time comes and that’s where DPI switch comes extremely handy.

Etekcity X1 uses an optical mouse sensor, which is a clever move. If you don’t know why optical sensors are great in gaming, you can check out our article: Optical versus laser mouse. What’s the difference between optical and laser mouse?

Etekcity Scroll x1 2400 dpi gaming mouse

Optical sensors are preferred in high tech gaming mice because of the lack of mouse acceleration. This provides you greater accuracy. I’m not saying that laser sensors are junk, there are also many great laser sensors around, but usually optical sensors are preferred in the industry. That’s why probably the best FPS/RPG gaming mouse Logitech G502 uses one of the best  optical mouse sensor around.

Now, let’s look at the memory and profiles thingy.

On Board Memory And Profiles

Etekcity Scroll X1 allows you to create up to 3 user profiles. You can tailor each of them with desired DPI, polling rate and button functions to suit them up for your different gaming or other needs. But the mouse itself is plug and play. So, in order to use it you don’t have to absolutely install the software.

3 on board profiles and 7 programmable buttons are a steal for this price. It gets quite hard for me to find any negatives about Etekcity Scroll X1.

About The Shiny Lights

Etekcity Scroll X1 has two parts which emits light, The scroll wheel and the icon at the back of mouse. Scroll wheel light is stable and shines red all the time while icon changes colors depending on DPI. Now this can be a double edged sword for some people. While some people like this setup of lighting,  it can be uncomfortable for some. For me, it was cool and I was totally comfy with it but everyone is different of course.

Etekcity Scroll x1 2400 dpi gaming mouse

Scroll wheel lights red all the time  and icon has three light options. Icon at the back of the mouse (the sharp shaped eye thing)  is illuminating with 3 colors of light which are red, blue and green. They’re depended on your DPI, so when you change your DPI, the color automatically changes. This way you understand on which DPI you are.

Bad thing about the lights is that you can’t change the lights. It may seem like a crime for some of us, and it actually is on some level. It could have been designed in a way that lights were also customizable 🙁  This little flaw doesn’t decrease the quality or leave all other great features of Etekcity Scroll X1 on shadow, but man you could have done something about this.

Etekcity Scroll x1 2400 dpi gaming mouse

While the scroll wheel lights red all the time icon color changes and it lights with a “breathing” effect which continiously increases and decreases the light strenght.

Software and Customization

We of course customize our mouse with use of software and it comes in the box. You can install the software by using the CD which comes with the bundle. It is quite easy to use the software and has a light touch.

What people tink about it??

Really? At 2400 dpi the precision is humungous. I love high precision mouse and this one is not an exception. I also the ergonomic design. I guess it feels excellent on grip. I don’t want my hand to feel sort of discomfort when using any computer gaming mouse. This is one important factor to consider when playing any computer game.

    • admin says:

Grip is pretty fine, also considering the side grip pads. It may be not the best of the best when it comes to gaming mouse, but it really provides comfort and covers all your comfortabl gaming needs. It has all the average parameters to make a mouse great and useful.

Also the ergonomics are one of my favourite things of this mouse. It reminds me of Razer Deathadder.
