Hey there gamers!! Tyler here!!

Has anyone told you that your gaming habbits has started to become addictive in a disease level?? Well, haters gonna hate.. But there has been a news post published these days which is related to gaming and health. Anyone heard about WHO?? It’s the acronym for World Health Organization (WHO) and they’re fter us gamers this time.. WHO the hell are they??

There will be a new official “Gaming Disease” listed in International Classification of Diseases (ICD) which is going to be published later this year around June. These are the words of WHO spokesman Tarik Jasarevic who gave information to reporters in Geneva.

There is a current process going on of updating ICD-11 and practicioners from the whole world are included in this work.

This is the definition that they have come up with till now. Gaming Disorder is:

A pattern of gaming behviour characteried by:

  • impaired control over gaming,
  • increased priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests.

According to provisional guidelines the patient should demonstrate an abnormal fixation on gaming for at least a year before being diagnosed as a disease host.

Well, we’re all doomed :))

Research evidence suggests that younger people who are more connected to the onine gaming world are being effected more.

Actually it’s a field that has been studied not forΒ  a long time and data is still in its infancy stage but the world is getting bonded more and more with technology and especially the gaming world is only ever expanding.

I also admit that some people are taking gaming too serious sometimes. I have friends that have dropped out of school just because of a game which has become an addiction for them. But what can we do about it? Is this the solution??

I don’t think so πŸ™‚ I also think that it’s not only about gaming but it’s about self disciplining.

Also Jasarevic pointed out that there are people actually seeking help for this condition.

Very well written and very informative. I think that there are some folks who probably take gaming to a level where is is adversely effecting their spousal relationships but like most things I think those folks are few and far between.
I think most people just game as a harmless hobby like any sport or activity.
Thanks for the information and keep it coming.

      Hey Doug!!

I agree. I have some friends who are World of Warcraft addicts on a destructive level and the same thing goes ith many other games unfortunately. But it’s not about the games, it’s about individuals. People without self discipline and awareness will be dragged into addiction anywhere anytime and people just need to get a purpose in life and concentrate on them instead of filling their emptiness of souls with games.

I LOVE videogames, I wouldn’t have founded GMP if I didn’t πŸ˜› But I’m aware of my responsibilities and I plan my schedule to meet my goals, even if it means that I have to cut down some time from gaming..
