Razer Mamba is the exclusive venomous glowing snake of Razer mouse franchise and it's one of the most EYE-CATCHING models in the gaming mice industry. There is no doubt that the side strips which glow like a rainbow are attracting much attention but the mesmerizing side strips aren2t the only thing that makes Razer Mamba grat mouse. If you want a gaming mouse which looks BADASS, then it's already checked in the to-do-list of Razer Mamba, but we will explore in detail EVERY aspect of it. You will learn inside out and find out about all the features that make Razer Mamba so special.
First of all, I will enter the review with a short introduction about the overall design of Razer Mamba. Razer Mamba is a wired/wireless switchable gaming mouse and it provides gamers a sea of opportunities. Razer Mamba is a great choice for gamers who want to both free their gaming desk from cables and also don't want to miss out the chances that wired gaming mice provide.
Razer Mamba Wireless, obviously, is the wireless / wired switchable version of the wired Razer Mamba which goes by the name Razer Mamba Tournament Edition. If you're not willing to spend a good amount of money, and by a good amount of money I mean more than $100, then I advise you to check out our Razer Mamba Tournament Edition Review. It performs the same, has every feature that Razer Mamba Wireless comes with, but it's wired and MUCH CHEAPER!!

It's pretty balanced in weight and its weight is so fine-tuned that my hand felt right on the optimum spot of mouse control. It weighs 125 grams and this amount of weight is actually pretty heavy for a gaming mouse. I'm fine with the weight because I like my mice heavy and the weight makes me feel that I'm in control. I can ACTUALLY feel the mouse under my hand. The force that weight applies gives the feeling of actually controlling the mouse.
SteelSeries Rival 700 comes with the same weight setup and I must state that I'm pretty satisfied with the weight of SteelSeries Rival 700. I advise EVERYONE checking out our SteelSeries Rival 700 review. CLICK HERE To Check Out Our SteelSeries Rival 700 Review!!
I would like if Razer Mamba had the option of weight customization such as SteelSeries Rival 600 has, but probably the click force adjustment system wasn't allowing it to be placed inside the mouse, but the weight and center of gravity distribution are kickass!! If you want to buy a mouse with the BEST weight adjustment features alongside with EXTREMELY GOOD mice features, I advise you to check out our SteelSeries Rival 600 Review!!! Also, you can CLICK HERE To Check Out Our SteelSeries Mice Page to see what SteelSeries has to offer in their artillery.

The design of Razer Mamba is pretty similar to Razer Deathadder, ergonomics of which are legendary and has inspired many other gaming mice to shape their design around its shape as a reference. Razer Mamba has improved one feature better than Deathadder and it's the SIDE GRIPS!! Razer Mamba, when compared with Deathadder has wider and more extending grips at its thumb buttons area and the outer side of Razer Mamba is almost completely coated with the textured grip material. These side grips DRASTICALLY improve the handling of Razer Mamba and they're BETTER THAN EVER with the updated Razer Mice franchise.
Now let's talk about the ergonomics...
Razer Mamba ergonomics, just like most other Razer products, Razer Mamba also holds a universal design pattern in their ergonomic design, which means that it's designed to suit EVERYONE and make gamers feel comfortable no matter what kind of hand or gip dynamics they have. Razer has been working on its ergonomics for a VERY LONG TIME and this is probably one of the strongest weapons Razer has against other competitors in the gaming peripherals industry.
Razer has always been a brand known for their great mouse ergonomics and with time and every new updated Razer lineup, the design, ergonomic form factors, and other technical parameters are improved. Just like the Kaizen principle, it gets better with time and now it's still living its legacy.
It won't take a great amount of time before you notice that Razer Mamba actually has a curvy and bumpy structure which I can't deny that it's appealing to the eye. It's great and one of the details that I liked about it was the grooves that are carved in the right/left clicks right at the spot where your trigger fingers will rest on the mouse. This improvement makes me like Razer Mamba even more.
Ergonomics are pretty comfortable and aren't making my hand tired for a great while. I can say that it's a good choice for gamers who spend long hours in team deathmatches. Great ergonomics, great form factor! The only minus about it is that Razer Mamba is right-handed only. So, you can write your complaint letters to Razer if you're a left-handed mutant friend 🙂 Else of that, there's not much to say about ergonomics. They're great.
Wired / Wireless Mode
Razer Mamba Wireless is a switchable gaming mouse and this dual switch gaming system gives people a wide variety of opportunities. It's not the first switchable gaming mouse, but it's one of the bests! Logitech G900 and Logitech G700S can be good examples of this technology and Razer Mamba holds a good deal of competition against them when it comes to the concept of switchable gaming mice.
Razer Mamba can be used both wired and wireless. But what's the advantage of it??? You can CHECK OUT Our Benefits Of A Wireless Mouse article to be aware of the plusses and minuses of owning a wireless mouse. But I will explain you a little bit about it...
Razer Mamba combines both advantages of wireless and wired mice by allowing gamers to game on both setups. First of all the benefits are probably the free space that a wireless mouse provides to gamers. Are you frustrated with that annoying mouse cable floating around your gaming/working desk?? GETTING A WIRELESS MOUSE is one of the best solutions you can implement!! With more free space you will be able to game more comfortably and your performance will be improving proportionally. This is the most significant reason why people get a wireless mouse, obviously...
Well, this problem can also be solved with a mouse bungee if you have a wired mouse.
Wanna find out more about mouse bungees?? CHECK OUT Our Article: "What Is The Best Mouse Bungee??"
But some people are not approaching warmly to the idea of wireless mice when it comes to performance gaming. There is a convention among a crowd of gamers that wireless mice don't track data as well as wired mice. That may have been true if this was the beginning of 00's, but now the technology has been developed tremendously and now we have wireless mice tracking just as fine as high-end gaming mice.
The tests and tracing comparison data of several high-end wireless mice indicate that the modern wireless mice perform and track just as well as wired mouse. But the only reason to choose a wired mouse over a wireless one is that wired mouse is lag proof and the chance of a wired mouse to stop responding out of nowhere is significantly lower when compared to a wireless mouse.
With all the high-end wireless gaming mice that I've demonstrated I haven't had any issue with tracking, but only once in a very long while like once in a week it stopped responding for a short while and that is an issue which even the best wireless mice can suffer from. Also, it's a known fact that if you're using many wireless peripherals together such as headphones and keyboard and etc.. you may experience waves interacting with each other and make the peripheral behave strangely.
Razer Mamba eliminates all these undesirable outcomes by working for both parties!!! People who think that wired tracking is a better option for gaming performance and people who want a wireless gaming desk can now meet on the middle way!!! If you want a wireless mouse, but still aren't sure about the chance of tracking defects of a wireless mouse, then Razer Mamba allows you to use it as a wired gaming mouse too!! Just plug in the USB data/charge cable to the front USB inlet right under the scroll wheel of Razer Mamba and you're good to go! Now you have a wired mouse!
If we have to talk about the wireless properties of Razer Mamba, I can say that you can comfortably use it in a range of 15 ft (4.5 m) and probably longer. The same thing goes with the charging dock. Charging dock acts as a wireless data transmitter and by using it you may even elongate your wireless distance!! So, Razer Mamba has 5 STARS from me on the subject of wireless tracking!
In-game Charging and the Charging Station
The dual switchability of Razer Mamba Wireless also makes sure that you never run out of battery in-game!! Wireless mode is great for eliminating all the distractions and increase comfort during your gaming sessions, but it's a fact that wireless mice must run on some energy source and that energy source for Razer Mamba is the built-in rechargeable battery.
It's a pretty decent battery that enables you to enjoy the comfort zone of wireless gaming for approximately 20 hours!! If your battery starts to drain up during gameplay, then the only thing you have to do is to plug the wire of Razer Mamba Wireless right to the front of Razer Mamba and you're good to go... No interruptions, no save and exits, no disappointed teammates!
Actually, this time depends on your mouse preferences such as RGB Chroma settings and customization of technical parameters. But my personal experience is that with all the lights and settings MAXed out, Razer Mamba Wireless provides you with 16 hours of continuous gaming experience!!!
Razer Mamba Wireless comes with a charging dock which makes the Mamba look pretty epic or as an exclusive artifact on it while charging. You can charge Razer Mamba both at the charging dock or both via cable during use, but I can't deny that the charging dock looks pretty neat. It comes with RGB Chroma lights installed and it not only acts as a charging dock, but it's also a great decoration for your gaming desk. While you're not using your Razer Mamba you can lay it to rest on its charging dock to present its greatness to anyone who is present.
The charging port is a decent item in the whole bundle of Razer Mamba Wireless, but charging is not the only thing that this baby does. The charging dock also acts as a wireless data receiver which extends your usage area of Razer Mamba!! Now, this feature is a thing that you don't come across every day... You can also use the charging dock to elongate the wireless distance of Razer Mamba if you like to game or work far away from your computer.
Adjustable Click Force Technology
Now that's some innovation!! You can actually adjust the height and strength of the mouse clicks of Razer Mamba!! That's right, this is a new innovative mechanical system that you can't come across on every gaming mouse, even on high-end gaming mice... There is a spring system installed right under the mouse click buttons and this way you're able to adjust and fine-tune your clicks to suit your gaming preferences!!
Razer Mamba Wireless comes with its screws to use on the click force adjustment system. When you look under the Razer Mamba Wireless, you will spot two little holes which represent the entrances for the screw. By putting the screw into the holes under the mouse and twisting it to right or left directions, which are indicated by arrow signs around the holes, you can actually make your mouse clicks harder or softer!! This feature is probably one of those ultra-exclusive features which are probably spotted only on mice like MadCatz or some exclusive high-end gaming mice. Actually, Razer Mamba is one of the top players when it comes to high-end gaming mice 🙂
To be honest, I don't think it's an ULTRA necessary feature because I was pretty fine with the standard mouse button feel of Razer mice and Mamba Tournament Edition. The addition of click force adjustment system pulls the price of Razer Mamba Wireless Up and it doesn't actually make a HUGE difference. Well, you actually feel the change between the hardest and lightest click force setup, but the difference between them isn't on a game-changer level and the whole feature isn't going to make you a champion just because it's there.
It's a fine detail and I support Razer in their deep dive to mouse innovation, but my personal opinion is that it's not carrying primary importance in a gaming mouse and its effect on your gaming is not on a level that will transform you from a noob to an ESports champion on a single day... You still have to earn it by busting your arse off 🙂
So, my conclusion about the Adjustable Click Force System is that it's good to have and it's a great innovation for the ones who value fine-tuning their gaming mouse, but it's not making a great difference for me.
I suppose it's the most eye-catching detail of Razer Mamba Wireless. Actually, Razer Mamba Tournament Edition has the same side strip lights and people who have checked out our Mamba TE review are probably are of this one hell of an eye-candy! It makes Razer Mamba stand out and you will become the "Cool Kid" of LAN parties with this baby. You can mesmerize your friends by turning your room to a rainbow rave party with what Razer Mamba Chroma Lighting System has to offer!!
Razer Chroma offers you 5 different lighting animations to choose from which are:
- Wave: Your RGB LEDs will change colors and shape between a rainbow-like wave of colors.
- Breathing: Colors will light up and dim down in a time interval determined by the user. them with each other
- Spectrum: Colors will change in the RGB color spectrum.
- Static: A determined static color will light up your Razer Mamba.
- Reactive: You can program Razer Mamba to react to specific commands or in-game actions. Usually, it's programmed to light up when you press the mouse button, but you can customize the hell out your Razer Mamba!! It will stay lighten up for short, mid or long term before fading out based on your determination.
And another cool feature that Razer Mamba Wireless comes with is the Inter-Device Synchronization that Razer allows. You can now synchronize the RGB lights of all your Razer peripherals to each other to act simultaneously in the result of which a mesmerizing RGB light show will be created. If you're a Razer fanboy and have several different Razer peripherals such as keyboard, headphones, mice, then you can sync them with each other and have yourself a show!!
Also, \ Razer enables you to work on your Razer Peripheral as a developer and create totally mind-blowing applications on your RGB gear. It's called the Chroma SDK Developer Platform and it's quite revolutionary. Here is an example of an audio visualizer which is created with Razer ğeripherals and SDK:
You can even create the traditional Snake game that you all are probably aware of:
Razer Mamba has 9 buttons at your service, which I think is just about the right number for a gaming mouse meant for FPS/RPG gaming. There are obviously other more available which are more suitable for MMO/MOBA gaming, and I'm not saying that Razer Mamba is not suitable, such as Razer Naga, Naga Hex V2, UTechSmart Venus and etc... But the buttons setup of Razer Mamba is the sweet spot for FPS/RPG / SHOOTER and it's definitely meant for performance gaming!!
Here is the list of buttons of Razer Mamba:
- Right /Left Click Buttons
- 2 Side Buttons
- 2 Rear Buttons
- 3 Scroll Wheel Buttons
The buttons are placed just at right places and are incredibly easy to press. Maybe the rear buttons at the back of scroll wheel may demand you to change your hand posture, but they're meant for DPI shift as standard. To those rear buttons, I assign commands which aren't used frequently in-game or when using other software. Else of the rear buttons, all others are in their right places and this proves that Razer has perfected its design patterns of their gaming mice or at least are so close to perfection.
3 Way Scroll Wheel
This is one of the BEST features that I like in the latest Razer Gaming Mice series. Razer Mamba Wireless also comes with 3 Way Scroll Wheel which can be pressed not only vertically but to sideways also!! This 3-way scroll wheel system can be spotted on Razer Naga and Razer Mamba Tournament Edition and some other Razer Gaming Mice. The 3-way scroll wheel opens up a vast world of opportunities for gamers by providing them with 2 extra buttons they can program right under their fingers.
You can now assign macros and sky high your gaming performance with the two extra scroll buttons. I prefer assigning grenade throws or weapon swaps and they come in REAL handy during fast-paced FPS/RPG games.
Technical Side of Things
Sensor and Tracking
Razer Mamba uses a 16,000 DPI 5G Philips Laser Sensor which is one of the best laser sensors on the market. It comes with 250 inches per seconds/50G acceleration if you're obsessive about numbers. But I will tell you about my overall experience with the sensor.
It's a laser sensor and I don't have any hate against them, but it's a true fact that optical sensors are better than laser sensors and are preferred in high-end gaming mice. But this doesn't make the laser sensor of Razer Mamba a bad choice. It actually tracks extremely well!!! It's one of the BEST laser sensors that I've used and, speaking of wired mode, it doesn't have any tracking issues or latency faults or anything like that. Performs great on wired mode and with the wire plugged in I enter the "confident mode" in which I'm always sure that my mouse will always point to the exact spot where I'm pointing my cursor to.
On wired mode, there are no faults, no flaws, no latencies or tracking issues and I also didn't notice much mouse acceleration in the DPI interval that I'm gaming. I usually play within the 1,200-3,000 DPI Max and in this interval, I didn't experience any jittering or visible distortions and etc... But within higher DPIs and enabling the mouse acceleration through the mouse software you can experience some mouse acceleration, which is not something I desire but a common issue with laser sensors.
In general, wired mode works GREAT and there are no issues with tracking, no latency problems, and it performs just as well as any other wired gaming mouse. Can't even notice that you're actually using a wireless mouse with the cable plugged in.
Wireless Mode also left me pretty satisfied with its high-quality wireless tracking. Just as the wired mode, in wireless I didn't also notice any tracking defect or latency issues. It performs outstandingly and Mamba Wireless left me pretty satisfied.
Of course, there are some downer sides of wireless tracking when compared with the wired setup. When I moved away from the monitor with my Razer Mamba, to the couch as an example, I noticed tracking problems. When I increased the distance of Razer Mamba from the transmitter, it started to show some faults in tracking, interruptions in mouse cursor movements and etc..
Yes, it tracks in a wide radius and you can get away from your monitor some modest distances, but it will come with its cons as you reach further. And you can experience some tracking issues or missed shots due to wrong cursor placement even if you're right next to your transmitter because this is a wireless mouse and even the best of them can have these issues from time to time.
My personal experience is that I haven't experienced any tracking faults in wireless mode. I haven't gamed away at a distance from my transmitter (I just tested the distance tracking for a couple of times) and it worked just fine. Maybe just a couple of delayed tracking and missed shots due to acceleration on high DPI, but these were not conventional and I have experienced them only once or twice. You may experience connection losses once in a while because it's a wireless mouse, but else of that, it performs pretty well for a laser sensor wireless mouse...
Razer Mamba uses Razer Synapse Software just as any other Razer peripheral. I'm not sure which version of Synapse you're using at the moment, but the main concept of all Razer Synapse Software are the same. Razer has recently released the Synapse 3 software, which is an updated version of the previous Synapse 2 with a cleaner interface. With time, the software may change and get updated but don't worry, the features, and main concepts always stay the same. Pictures presented here are from both Synapse versions.
You can customize the hell out of Razer Mamba with the Razer Synapse software, which is one of my all-time favorites. You will notice the peripheral selections bar down below the software screen. If you have several different Razer peripherals, I have some good news for you. The new lineup of Razer peripherals come with Chroma synchronization feature, which means that you can synchronize your Razer peripherals each other to illuminate RGB lights simultaneously!! If you have an appreciation for RGB lights, then you can turn your room into a raving disco with Chroma synchronization.
When you open up the Razer Mamba in the Razer Synapse Software Screen, you will notice the battery icon with a percentage indicator to the right of the screen. It's the battery of our Razer Mamba and it's a fine detail of Razer Synapse. In the Power Section of Razer Synapse, you will find settings related to the battery. You can set the time for Razer Mamba to enter into Sleep Mode when it's not being used actively. This is a great detail to elongate your battery life. Also, you can customize your scroll wheel to blink a specific color when your battery drops down to a certain amount. You can't disable these features and they are better, not disabled.
Surface calibration is now pretty much a standard among high-end gaming mice and the tradition goes on with Razer Mamba too. You can calibrate your Razer Mamba to your surface n which you're using it. Also, there are many pre-set mouse surfaces ready in the Razer Synapse software. These pre-set surfaces are all the Razer Gaming Mouse Pad lineup and you can calibrate your Mamba to them instantly by choosing your Razer Mouse mat from the list. If you don't have one of them, no problem. You can custom tune your Razer Mamba to the specific surface you're gaming at any time you want. Also, you can adjust the lift-off distance and that's essential for performance gaming. I advise you to CHECK OUT our SteelSeries Rival 600 Review to find out the best lift-off distance practices. And a little side note, the surface calibration can only be done in the "Wired Mode".
RGB Lights are the most eye-catching of Razer Mamba, it's a fact, and the amount of lighting customization possibilities that Razer Synapse gives us is tremendous! You can customize all the lights of Razer Mamba though the Chroma Configurator and you can set up all 15 lighting zones as you desire. There are 7 LED strips on each side of Razer Mamba and there is the scroll wheel LED. You can assign at least 5 different Chroma Animations or illumination settings which are Spectrum Cycling, Wave, Breathing, Static and Reactive. You can also choose the direction which the lights will flow through.
You can even combine multiple effects to create your own unique lighting experiences. You can combine breathing and spectrum lighting to different parts of the side strips. The amount of things you can do with the Chroma Configurator is HUGE!!!
When it comes to technical specifications, you can adjust your DPI all the way up to 16,000. You probably will never use that much amount of DPI, but it's still there if you ever feel like going cowboy on it. You can also enable/disable the mouse acceleration, adjust mouse acceleration, adjust the polling rate, and enable X/Y sensitivity.
With Razer Synapse you can create multiple profiles for different game setups. If you're playing many different games often, such as Overwatch, CS: GO, Call of Duty, Deus Ex and etc.. you can create profiles for each specific one of them and customize all your buttons and technical features specially for them. You don't need to give up on your developed reflexes with Razer Synapse. The profile usually switches automatically when you launch the game. Or you can apply the same practice to specific software. As an example, I use design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator 3DMax and etc.. I can create profiles for these specific types of software and create new macros to improve my workflow!!
For this kind of design software works, which usually require many shortcuts, I recommend checking out our Razer Naga Review!! It's great for MMO / MOBA and all types of software usage!!
I don't have to write much about the customizability of buttons and etc.. You can assign macros to ALL of the available buttons and the macros can be even deeply tailored by combining several different commands in one button click. The two rear buttons are a standard set to DPI switching, but you can customize them in any way you want. Personally, I use them for DPI shift only because they're harder to reach when compared to other buttons and I don't assign frequently used commands to them. The 3 Way Scroll Wheel is a better place to set your frequently used commands!!
So, as you can see, Razer Synapse enables you to do any possible thing with your gaming mouse and it's one of the most phenomenal gaming mice software that has ever existed. The only thing you need to use it is a Razer account, Razer peripheral and an internet connection. With these 3 under your reach, you can use it anywhere any time and get access to your profiles no matter where you are!
Where To Buy It From??
Amazon is the best place to buy this masterpiece and I've bought almost ALL of my gaming peripherals from Amazon due to the best price options and variety of seller/price options available!! Also, I don't have to mention the great retail service and quality customer support. Millions of people are using the services of Amazon and it's also another fact to consider using it. Razer Mamba Wireless is a GREAT mouse without doubt, but probably the only minus of it is its ULTRA EXPENSIVE price tag. With an out-of-charts price tag of $121.43, it's indicating that Razer Mamba Wireless is not for every budget. But if you want to invest in a JACKED-UP GAMING MOUSE with all the bells and whistles included and you want to make a long-term investment in a gaming mouse, then you can CLICK THE BUTTON DOWN BELOW to buy yourself a Razer Mamba Wireless!!!
But here is my personal opinion: If you're not so insistent about the wireless option and customizable click force feature (which isn't making a huge difference), then I STRONGLY advise you to BUY A Razer Mamba Tournament Edition!! It's WAY CHEAPER and will deliver the same performance as Razer Mamba Wireless!! You may even consider getting a Razer Deathadder Elite if the RGB LED Strips aren't indispensable for you. Razer Deathadder Elite has a WAY BETTER optical sensor than Razer Mamba, it's WAY CHEAPER and it's a more minimalistic mouse. Also, you can check out our Razer Naga Mouse Review if you want a cheaper but kickass high-end gaming mouse. Or just check out our RAZER Mice Page to see what Razer has in their inventory to offer!!
CLICK THE BUTTON TO BUY A RAZE MAMBA WIRELESS!!
What Do Others Think??
Razer Mamba Wireless has received 3.5 stars out of 5, which is not bad at all and taking into consideration that half of the users have rated 5 stars I can be assured that it's a decent mouse. Half of the users are extremely satisfied with it and when we sum the ratings up with 4+ stars voters, it turns out that %60 o the users are pretty satisfied with Razer Mamba. But I must admit that there are other Razer gaming mice rated much higher than this. You can CLICK HERE To Check Out All The RAZER Mice Lineup and explore what Razer has to offer you.
Ratings are not as high as I expected and the main reason behind it is probably the high price that Razer Mamba Wireless comes with. I admit it, I wouldn't like to pay $120 for a mouse unless it's my crush of a lifetime. It has every reason to be bought, but the price is not for everyone. The cool wireless transmitter, click force adjustment system and all the pretty lights come with their price of course...
Each Razer Mamba Wireless real user review will either be 5 stars or less, so it's hard to find bad reviews among the 1,227 of them. Here are what other real users think about it:
