Razer Naga Hex V2 Review – Best MOBA Weapon EVER

  • Just about right amount of buttons
  • Can also be used for FPS/RGB.
  • Great ergonomics and performance.

  • MMO players may require more customisable buttons.

Hey there gaming enthusiasts!! Our Razer Naga Hex v2 Review is one of the gems that many gamers (especially LoL players) were waiting for. Razer Naga Hex v2, in my opinion, is a product that fills in the void of the gaming peripherals market for MOBA players who want a deadly weapon to increase their rate of productivity and become the #NUMBER 1 of their game.

If you’re a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) player and frequently play specific titles such as League of Legends, Dota 2 and likes of them, you better consider getting a Razer Naga Hex V2 for yourself because it’s specially crafted for you.

And word is not only about MOBA, ANY player who knows  how to program their Razer Naga Hex V2 can become a dominator of the gaming era thanks to its simplicity of design and kickass ergonomics. Be it FPS, be it MOBA,Razer Naga Hex V2 is the mouse for people who like their mouse as a simple but effective to use weapon. The mouse for people who want to cut to the chase and get the job done.

Let’s get to know Razer Naga Hex V2:

Who Is It For????

  • Are you looking for a mouse which is easy to use and has a simplistic design without all that elements of confusion getting into your way?
  • Are you a fan of MOBA game genre and frequently play games like League of Legends, Dota 2 and etc..?? Then you may have found your next gaming mouse??
  • You also want a mouse which can fit any gaming type and provide strategical advantage in productivity.
  • Ergonomics is an important factor for you and you want a mouse that will feel comfortable under your hands while also looks damn cool and feels tender to touch.
  • You want to be able to fully customize your gaming mouse in the exact way you want to.

If you think what I think and if you fit into the criterias stated above, Razer Naga Hex V2 is probably the best choice for you.

Actually I don’t like to classify mice strictly under stereotypical “Specific User/Game” titles because the thing is you can play any game with any mouse as soon as you’re comfortable with it. But these kind of different designs just make us more capable and comfortable with some game types and that’s why we see some gaming mice are refered to specific game types.

This is why Razer Naga Hex V2 has a charm for MOBA players. With its hepta-radial designed side buttons and signature Razer ergonomics it’s just gem for MOBA players and if you’re playing LoL, Dota 2 and alike MOBA games frequently you’re definetely good to go with a Razer Naga Hex V2. Don’t even need to think about it!! Just get one and you won’t regret.

Else of MOBA, it can be a great alternative for FPS/RGB players who want to simplicity and performance in the same bag. You can customize your Arsenal, be it weapons or be it spells or anything, the exact way you want and all of these 7 custom commands are under your thums reach.

I will jump in to Ergonomics now, but before that presentation of a more visual source won’t hurt anyone. People usually understand better when they’re watching a video and also it saves some time for people who don’t have much time more than a couple minutes. And this is an “in-depth” review so here’s some video content for your eyes:

Design and Ergonomics

As it’s obvious the main design feature that puts Razer Naga Hex V2 forward is the 7 button heptagon thumb button design which is a GREAT IDEA and a great step forward to improve the user experience especially for MOBA gamers.

I’ve personally experienced Razer Naga and some other MMO mice which usually have 12 side buttons and I (personally speaking) prefer Razer Naga Hex V2 becaue I don’t need 12 thumb buttons which I sometimes accidentally press during game and I just don’t personally need 12 buttons for my gaming and other computer related tasks. That’s why Razer Naga Hex V2 was a fresh breath of “MMO/MOBA” air for me. I’ve found exactly what I wanted from a MOBA/MMO mouse!!

razer naga hex v2 review

I suppose the emphasis  “V2” in the name of this gaming mouse has got your attention and you may have guessed that this beauty is a follow-up of the Razer generation. You’re right! Razer Naga Hex V2 is the little millenial cousin of Razer Naga Hex, which is a great mouse that has had its days of glory back then but now Razer came up with an update to it, just as any other models.

I also suggest you get a Razer Naga Hex V2 instead of Naga Hex. Both are great gaming mice, but Razer Naga Hex V2 comes with better surface design, better ergonomics, more buttons and improved technical features. The ancestor “Naga Hex” had a spltted fan base %50 of which liked the Naga hex while other half wasn’t satisfied with it and most of the complaints were from the plastic mouse surface which wasn’t providing an enjoyable feeling o touch. Also Razer Naga Hex V2 features an extra side button which can only improve things.

Razer Naga Hex V2 has been updated with new age Razer features after its ancestor and it has definetely become jacked up. I don’t have to talk much about the 7 button design, we have been through that: It’ AWESOME for MOBA players and comes in quite handy for any game types like FPS/RPG. It can be suitable for every game type if you know how to properly customize a gaming mouse.

The ergonomics are IMPROVED DRASTICALLY after the orignal Naga Hex and the new ergonomics have become the optimal best for MOBA/MMO players. The original Naga Hex wasn’t a role model to have when it came to ergonomics. It was more like a bump or the sinusoidal curve cut in half. Razer design and branding team must have not been satisfied with it so that after years they decided to recreate it and make it become a #1 choice for MOBA MMO players.

razer naga hex v2 review

With this new design Razer Naga Hex V2 ergonomics have become the same with new Razer Naga, which is also a charm for people seeking great ergonomics. Now Razer Naga Hex V2 has a more concaved and larger body with a raised bump for better palm rest and a ring finger rest which fits awesome.Lovers of Razer Naga will be pleased to buy a Naga Hex V2 because they will feel home and won’t spend much time to get used to their new Naga Hex V2.

We can see the rubber bands in both sides of Naga Hex V2 and they pull out a great job in handlig the mouse. These rubber grips are like the signature design feature of Razer and we can see them in many Razer products.

razer naga hex v2 review

Scroll Wheel is clickable and performs great as many other Razer scroll wheels perform. Also it can be a good use to program it for a specific subject such as switching between gaming profiles profiles. Yeah, there’s a feature like that but we’ll talk about it in the software section. But the best thing about the scroll Wheel is that it’s side-clickable which means that the scrll Wheel will click when you tilt it to right and left. This is one of the details I like the most about Razer peripherals.

Side click of scroll Wheel can be programmed for page scroll which will definetely improve your mouse experience and facilitate your work flow. Page scrolling ay be a little detail but I definetely have a hard time when I have to scroll in a constant basis and during those times I’ve always wished to have a scroll Wheel like Razer Naga Hex V2 equips.

razer naga hex v2 review

Back of the scroll Wheel is equipped with two additional buttons which are by default come as sensitivity (DPI) adjusters but you can program them in whatever way you want to süit for specific tasks.

Actually Razer Naga Hex V2 is a mouse that doesn’t have too much to talk about but I’ve already written 1300 words about it till now. It’s simplistic and it’s pretty high quality. Probably one of the best mouse for the MOBA gaming scene. But meanwhile providing the necessary quality and functions, it doesn’t forget to look good either.

razer naga hex v2 review

Razer Naga Hex V2 comes with the signature Chroma Lighting System which turns your gaming mouse into an eye-candy rainbow machine if you like to. You get to choose from 16.8 million colors from the spectrum and Razer Chroma Illumination System definetely catches all the eyes in the room.

There are 3 illumination points on the mouse which are the scroll Wheel, palm logo and side buttons. You can program your lighting zones seperately from Razer Synapse software to maket hem all illuminate different colors or light up with different effect patterns such as brething light, command reactive, static color and cycling colors. One of the industry leader mouse software Razer Synape is pretty easy to use and you can program the lighting options from there.

I had the chance to experiment with Razer Naga Hex V2 on some titles such as Overwatch and LoL and etc… I’ve been satisfied during my whole gaming session and Razer Naga Hex V2 has provided me a stable and higher-than-average standards gaming quality and I thank Razer Naga Hex V2 for that.

Razer Naga Hex V2 uses a laser gaming mouse sensor. It’s nothing unique but it performs a great job. As I mentioned in the beginning it supports 16,000 DPI precision which is a number not so important when it’s so high as 16,000 but it can be a good extra for gamers who like to tune their mice with their own standards or for gamers who use giant multiple screens connected to each other.

razer naga hex v2 review

Don’t know what DPI is or can’t understand the ins and outs of higher or lower DPI?? Then I suggest you to check out our Mouse 101 article: What is DPI??

As I said, 16,000 DPI is usually too high for any gamer to use but it’s not bad to have the optional extra firepower, is it? Else of that the sensor and electronics side of things with Razer Naga Hex V2 are mostly standard such as 1000 Hz polling rate 5G acceleration and etc. But the mouse is precise and can also be used for other genres like FPS without problem.

If you’re comfortble with Razer Naga ergonomics or you just like “more bulky than average” mice and the Hexa (actually it’s Hepta now that  we have 7 buttons, the Hexa is just a tribute to the original Naga Hex) radial design seems to fit you well, than you can buy Razer Naga Hex V2 without hesitation!! Because it really gets the job done and it’s probably one of the best mice that a gamer can get. Be it a pro gamer or an enthusiast, Razer Naga Hex V2 is a promising buy for everyone.

Razer Naga Hex V2 uses the Razer Synapse gaming mouse software just like any other Razer Mouse and it’s one of the GOD TIER gaming mouse softwares. It’s so easy to use and it’s desgned in a way that you can’t probably miss anything. So user friendly and powerful. But there is a splitted crowd. Some percentage of gamers don’t like Razer Synapse Software while the others fall in love with it.

I really like the Razer Synapse Software . It simple, easy to use and eye-candy. But the main factor that makes some people turn their heads to another direction is tht Razer Synapse requires an internet connection and a Razer Account to customize your mouse. This may be a little process that some gamers don’t want to get involved with.

razer naga hex v2 review

But this feature also has a decent advantage because Razer Synapse stores your devices and profile settings in the cloud and when you switch to a different computer you won’t have to do anything from the beginning. All those settigs and configurtions will be kept right under your hand, the only thing you need is a Razer account. It can really bring ease to your gaming life.

If you’ve spent some time in the gaming peripherals market you must be aware of a thing called “Gaing Profiles”. Those are your sets of configurations and pre-programmed button combinations which can be stored for frequent or later use. One of the greatest things that Razer Synapse gifts you is the game recognition for profiles. You can configure Synapse to switch profiles automatically when youlaunch a game.

So this way you won’t mix your League of Legends button sets with StarCraft or Dota 2 and you won’t even need top pre-set anything. Razer Synapse does everything by itself!! This is what technology looks like.

You will be able to program 14 buttons of Razer Naga Hex V2 as you wish to tailor them for your frequently played games. You can also customize your inner mouse settings such as sensitivity, on-the-fly DPI settings and polling rate.

On-the-fly DPI means that you can switch your DPI just by clicking a single button during the game and you won’t be interrupted by anything, no changing screens, nothing. This can be very effective especially during sniping because you don’t want your mouse to fly around while you trying to zoom on your target. That’s where tuning down your DPI might come in handy.

I said before that all your Chroma Lighting settings are customized through Razer Synapse Software and you can set different light animations of your choice with 16.8 million colors to choose from.

Pros and Cons

My personal opinion is that Razer Naga Hex is a great mouse to have in your Arsenal and you will be more than satisfied especially if you’re a MOBA player who deals with several action buttons on a constant basis but that’s not the only crowd that Razer Naga Hex V2 adresses to. Every other gamer from any other gaming type can be more than happy with it depending on your ergonomics choice. It’s precise, extremely user friendly, pretty comfortable to use and fully customizable.

But here are the general pros and cons that I’ve spotted and I’m revealing them for you to make an easier decision:

  • Hex Thumb buttons are placed strategically and they’re extremely easy to use. Become a limb of your own after getting used to. If you’re a MOBA player you should probably buy it even without thinking.
  • In MMO mice sometimes people accidently press the thumb buttons because there are TOO MUCH of them. But with Razer Naga Hex V2 this wasn’t an issue and I haven’t accidently pressed any buttons. Good Job Razer!!!!
  • Signature Razer Ergonomics as always left me satisfied and it’s almost identical to Razer Naga ergonomics which can be a great buy for people who are experienced with Razer Naga.
  • Sensor has great precision. Not the top of the industry standards such as Logitech G502 but it perfrms great! 16,000 DPI may be more than enough but it’s always a good option to have as an extra for any kind of task, multi screening or non-conventional precision settings.
  • Black matte plastic surface and rubber grips feel tender and I like this design detail.
  • Can be used for any game type if you know how to properly program it. Also people working in the design field (I used to) can benefit fabulously by attending shortcuts of their design software.
  • Razer Chroma Illumination System Works like a charm as always.

  • It’s a right handed only mouse, so our left handed friends will be deprived from this experience.
  • If you’re looking for a mouse with bazillion of buttons,  much more hardware customizability and way more eye-catching design, I suggest you take a look at Corsair Scimitar. Because Naga Hex V2 is more of a simplistic but still extremely effective gaming mouse.

Where To Buy From??

Razer Naga Hex V2 can be easily found from Amazon and it also offers you options to buy either the mouse on its own or buying a bundle of Razer Naga Hex V2 together with an epic Razer Illuminated RGB mouse pad, a great option for extended gaming power.

Price tag for Razer Naga Hex V2 is Amazon was around $69.99 the last time I checked but you can come across some massive discounts at certain time, so you may eventually get it for a cheaper price. Also buying a bundle of Razer Naga Hex V2 + Chroma Mat (or Razer Goliathus Cloth Mat) is more economic and you will be saving like $10 with this bundle. So, if you were planning to buy a new gaming mouse mat, here’s the chance !!

Amazon is also the easiest place to get hardware in my opinion because millions of people are using it, they have a great retail service and a great customer care.

So, if you decided to get a Razer Naga Hex V2, you can easily get it from Amazon by clicking the button above!!

What Others Think??

Razer Naga Hex V2 has 4 stars out of 5 on Amazon ratings and that’s a great number with all that competition around. There are 1,328 real buyers that have voted Naga Hex V2 and that’s why Razer Naga V2 gives confidence before buying. Let’s read some of the other user comments that.

Hello Tyler, thanks for the awesome product review. It has been a long time since I played a computer game (I personally stick to classic gaming consoles such as NES, SNES, PlayStation, Sega and N64), and I’m not really too big on them. My little brother loves computer games!!! He plays computer games all day, everyday lls. The Razer Naga Hex V2 would be perfect for him to try out. I will inform him on it ASAP. Thanks again for the review, I wish you the best of luck!!

    • Tyler says:

      Hey there Ahmad!!

Actually, I’m also a console gamer by origin. I started my gaming life with a good old PlayStation One and since then I’m in the marvelous gaming world. Then I’ve dived into PC Master Race simultaneously.

Your brother will appreciate a Razer Naga Hex V2 no matter what type of games he play, it’s great for many genres and many players. And he will be the happiest gamer ever especially if he plays MOBA and strategy games like League of Legends, DOTA 2 and etc…

  2. R.J. says:

Hey DRattlesnake, I just read your article and it is very interesting. I’ve never been a PC player but I have sort of been curious about trying them especially using all of the “state of the art” equipment such as a gaming laptop and a mouse. The product of which you spoke in your article looks really amped up, is that the first of its kind or is it a new generation of computer mice to function as a controller.

I have to say that the 7 button “algorithm” is very unique, I’ve never seen that on a mouse before but I can say that you’ve just opened my mind up to a completely different piece of gaming hardware. How often do you play computer games if you do?

Incidentally, if I was into PC games then I would definitely try that product because it looks awesome and the article really speaks to its specs and everything else about it.

    Awesome article!

    • Tyler says:

      Hey there R.J. !!!!

I’m glad that I’ve made your life better )) And it’s not the first one but it’s probably the best one for the specific MOBA genre. Before Razer Nag Hex V2 there was Razer Naga Hex and the general Razer Naga for the MMO genre.

Thank you for your nice words RJ!!!! It really mean a lot to me :)) I’m glad that you liked it and I hope that you will definetely try it out some day and see the magnificence of this mouse by your own eyes:))

  3. Kenneth says:

I noticed your comment that 16,000 DPI is much too fast for what gamers need. My first question is this: what would be the purpose of having such high DPI? And my second question is this: are there any alternative mice similar to the Razer Naga Hex V2?

Thanks so much for writing this article. If I decide to get back into LoL I will definitely consider giving this mouse a shot!

    • Tyler says:

Hey Kenneth!! Thanks for your interest!!

High DPI can be useful for people who use multiple big led monitors which have many pixel and high DPI can be beneficial for them because DPI (or CPI) simply means Dots Per Inch and those dots are referred to pixels on your screen. If you want to know more detailed about DPI please read our DPI article: “What is DPI??”

Higher DPI means more pixels moving per inch you move your mouse and higher DPI can be both beneficial or harmful for a gamers play. That’s  up to you and your control preferences.

      2) There are alternatives but in my opinion Razer Naga Hex V2 is the best when it comes to MOBA.

I appreciate your nice words and don’t hesitate to come back any time you want!! And don’t forget to check out our other content :))

  4. Katherine MacDonald says:

Nice review! The Naga Hex V2 is definitely a beautiful little mouse and seems to be useful for more than just MMOs. My question is does the unconventionally numbered dials on the size create any confusion during high intensity games? I feel it would make more sense to have the numbers follow in order, but maybe this is not much of a problem? I might ask for one for Christmas!

    • Tyler says:

      Hey there Catherine!!

No it doesn’t create any confusion, in fact it’s designed to fit human reflexes and humans actually use the buttons with given order of numbers without thinking because it’s just more ergonomical.

You should buy one for christmass :))

  5. Malachi says:

This mouse looks pretty fancy. I think it would help in DotA and the like, but could it help in other types of games? Is it just any game with macros or is it specifically desingned for moba players? As it is not a need for me I am iffy on picking it up. It does look useful though if I could put in custom macros for other games.

    • Tyler says:

It w’ll help in EVERY type of game if you know how to use it. It has a leaning on MOBA gaming but it can be effectively used with ANY KIND OF GAME. You can fully customize the macros and even I will get a new one when I have the budget 🙂

I’ve tested it myself and it was awesome!! Currently using a Logitech G700S and it’s AMAING but I will also get a Razer Naga Hex V22 as a spare or maybe I’ll just switch to it because it’s just great to use in FPS/RPG too.

  6. Akwi says:

Great website! Your site is enriching and easy to navigate. I am not a fan to video games, but I must say I like how enriching your website is. It has all the details you need to get the razer naga game. I will get one of this amazing game for my son. Thank you for putting all of these material in just one website. Will definitely get one from amazon

    • Tyler says:

      Thank you Akwi ))

Actually it’s not a game, it’s a gaming mouse and I willl assume that you have understood the concept of the article wrong or just that you’re having problems with a drunk keyboard 🙂

But still, Thank you for your nice words!! 🙂

  7. Sarah Chavez says:

I started as a pc gamer, became a console gamer when I couldn’t afford to keep up with the constantly evolving world of computer hardware and peripherals needed to maximize my gaming experience, but am coming back to the world of PC Gaming lately.

I have always hesitated to buy a ‘gaming mouse’ because most look way over complicated and far more than I need, but I also recognize I need more from my mouse than the normal ‘work’ mouse I do use. I appreciated the review of the various features and functionality of this specific mouse, since it gave me some context.

I had a question in reading this – for the 7 programmable keys and functions, what do you find you use them the most for? What keyboard or shortcut do those 7 buttons replace for you, and how helpful have you found that? I’m pretty tech savvy, and find keyboard and similar shortcuts easy to remember and use – so am interested in hearing how the mouse buttons might improve on that?

    • Tyler says:

I also started out as a cosole gamer when I was 3 and then I switched to general gaming. Nowadays it’sbeauty to find on every platform and I it seems like we need to have multiple platforms to get the experience. PS exclusive games are definetely worth getting!!

Everyone needs to get a gming mouse in my opinion. It definetely makes lives of people easier and I’ve benefitted from gaming mice A LOT and it’s not only gaming that it has helped with. I also use design software and a gaming mouse is a breath of fresh air when it comes to everything computer related.

I usually assign buttons for subjects like throwing grenades, opening up the inventory and etc.. I really don’t lie to use keyboard for some in game tasks and I want to use only direction keys with my hand on keyboard. Else of that I switch the mouse profile when I’m using it for design software and it’s DEFINETELY KICKIN ASS!!!! That’s why you can’t go wrong with it. You can use it on many subjects!

  8. Salvatore V Jenkins Jr. says:

It’s no mystery that Razer develops top of the line gaming peripherals despite their failure with the Razer Forge TV which I unfortunately bought and it bricked itself months ago.

The Razer Naga Hex v2 may have a simple design but I think simple is better and it has a cool stealth look.

Do you feel it provided enough buttons or did you find it lacking in some games?

    • Tyler says:

Razer is actually taking great leaps in different genres now, making laptop and it would be a sin not to mention the epic Razer Phone 🙂 I’m not expecting the well established foundation in Razer Phone, they have just started making it but it’s good to try new things, only innovatin matters 🙂

Naga Hex V2 is a KICKASS mouse and I’ve used it for various different tasks including FPS/RPG gaming and design software.

I think it has just enough amount of buttons to suit general gaming. Maybe not MMO, then I would suggest you checking out UTechSmart Venus Review 🙂

  9. Hung says:

    Amazing review!

I’ve always been a huge fan of Razer. It seems as thought every year they improve their devices by 10x. I’ve had 3 Razer naga and 1 naga hex and they all work wonderfully. Great DPI and amazing respond time.

Keep up the great work on the thorough reviews!

    • Tyler says:

      Hey Hung!!

Thanks for the infrmative comment. This will make it easier to decide for people who are not acquainted with Razer or don’t have any experience with them.

I will try my best to provide good content to people, thank you for your interest!!

  10. kmv says:

Super comprehensive review of the Razer Naga Hex v2!

I’m wondering if this mouse would serve me well for the 3D and design work I do? I use multiple high dpi monitors and Blender and Photoshop. (I can’t play games all the time…have to get some work done).

I’m trying to find a mouse that is a good fit for work and play. Is the Razer Naga Hex v2 one you would recommend?

    • Tyler says:

      Hey there good friend!!

Your question is the type that I love to answer :3 Because I’m also using design software and I always appreciate MMO/MOBA mice such as Razer Naga Hex V2 due to their abilities to provide shortcuts in these specific softwares which come in REAL handy..

If you are using no more than 7 shortcuts or command assignments I definetely advise you to get a Razer Naga Hex V2 because it’s DEFINETELY AWESOME!! But if you are an optimization addict and you want to program the hell out of your working style then I can definetely advise you a MMO mouse such as UTechSmart Venus  or Corsair Scimitar or Logitech G600. An MMO mouse gives you the possibility o assign around 15 shortcuts right under your thumb!!

And I can advise you to get a UTechSmart Venus because it’s probably the best BUDGET MMO mouse available. But if you want to be deadly in gaming too then I advise you to get other mice that I’ve mentioned before.

I thank you for your interest 🙂

  11. Aaron says:

Hey Tyler, really cool review I love it when someone goes really into the details of a product. I just bought a new Roccat keyboard so now I was looking for a good mouse. This one seems to be perfect. I had a really expensive one before. It had so many buttons that every time I would put my hand on it I was pressing one of them, which was super annoying. But this one has enough customizable buttons and they are in the right positions. Thank you very much, going to buy it.

    • Tyler says:

      Hey there Aaron!!!

Razer Naga Hex V2 is definetely one of the best gaming mice that I’ve ever used. Unlike the classic Razer Naga (which I also love a lot) this has just about enough buttons and definetely optimized for general use!! I couldn’t be more than happy with a mouse else than Razer Naga Hex V2.

Also there is a fact that I also do design works and 3D modeling where shortcuts and macros come in real handy!! I could also use a conventional MMO Mouse with 155 buttons but I don’t play that much MMO and I’m not so used to MMO mice, that’s why Razer Naga Hex V2 was a PERFECT candidate for me!! But if you want an advice on PURE MMO mice I would definetely tell you to get a Corsair Scimitar.

Thank you for your attention and don’t forget to check out our other articles to find the BEST gaming peripheral for yourself!!

  12. Christian says:

I’m quite a gamer myself. I play games such as Call of Duty, Battlefield and League of Legends. When I saw this amazing hardware, I was quite impressed with the features and specs. It also looks visually appealing and it does illuminate. Yay!
Superb hardware and awesome review. I’ll most definitely recommend this review to others for the best gaming experience possible.
